Visual Artist

My work encompasses site-specific installations, sculpture, works on paper and recently video. In these works, issues of urbanization, transformation, regeneration, escape, collapse and nomadic existence have been predominant. The foundation of this work lies in the alteration of found and recycled materials and environmental debris, often on site, that includes such source materials as books and printed matter, empty tins, old tires, bicycles, boat parts and building construction fragments. These materials are often altered to create architectural spaces or conveyances - carts, cranes, carriages--that potentially could have a use and/or movement but where the possibility of that utility is refused (in an economically productive sense) in favor of an allegorical narrative within a personal and shared cultural vocabulary.
