Since the Foundation's inception, more than 2,500 grants awarded to artists and arts organizations—totaling over $12 million—have provided opportunities for creative exploration and development. FCA supports individual artists and collectives working in dance, music/sound, performance art/theater, poetry, and the visual arts through five grant programs: Grants to Artists, the John Cage Award, the Merce Cunningham Award, and Robert Rauschenberg Award, and Emergency Grants.
In 2016, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts is poised to distribute $810,000. Fourteen Grants to Artists of $40,000 each were awarded in January—a total of $560,000. Additionally, a $40,000 Robert Rauschenberg Award and a $50,000 John Cage Award were made. $40,000 will be disbursed in Contemporary Visual Arts Scholarships and FCA is on track to distribute $160,000 to more than 100 artists through Emergency Grants.
FCA does not consider requests for funding outside of program guidelines; Emergency Grants is the only program that accepts applications. Unsolicited submissions of work samples or other materials will not be returned. Thank you for understanding.
